Record Season in Vail!

Well Vail and Beaver Creek Mountains are indeed closed but there were fresh tracks on Vail Mountain just this morning. Why? Because it snowed for the last 4 days straight and there must be over a foot of fresh powder on the mountain today. Hard-core skiers are hiking up to have the great snow all to themselves. The last day I skied was Monday April 26, the staff appreciation ski day (the mountain is closed to the public and only available to staff). I skied 7 inches of fresh powder on a virtually empty mountain. The is so much snow up there the trail signs, which normally sit about 6-7 feet above snow level, are touching the ground. But alas the mountain is closed. The record that was broken: 505 inches in 1978. Total snowfall as of closing day this year: 524.

Business Activity Up
Most merchants and restaurants reported a tremendous increase in business this ski season over last. Some businesses reported having their best Christmas season ever! I can tell you from personal experience, Vail was as busy as I've seen it in years and everyone had a shopping bag or two in their hands. And my business was certainly up over last year during the same timeframe. In particular, April has been incredibly busy for me and my company. Many of our prospective buyers chose to wait until the end of the season to find the best deals. And deals they found! Most of the sellers in the Villages had expected to sell this winter. But once they had realized the winter selling season was coming to an end, they quickly became more conciliatory on price. I have put together three contracts just this month and all three of those buyers got a great deal because of the time of year. So this is a great time to buy before the summer selling seasons kicks in.

New Building in Lionshead
Construction crews are currently working on tearing down the old building attached to the base of the Lionshead parking structure to make way for a beautiful new building with amenities and services like restrooms and a bus depot/transit center. The old Subway restaurant building was a dinosaur in an area that has seen profound change with construction of the new Arrabelle and existing buildings receiving complete facelifts. This new building is one of many great new projects the town of Vail is undertaking to continue to make Vail the best resort it can be.
